Wintering

  • Kutik's Honey Farm 3442 New York 12 Oxford, NY, 13830 United States (map)

While we should think about our winter bees all season long, July/Early August is an excellent time to begin helping our girls build the ideal environment for winter success.

Understanding what your bees need to winter successfully is one of the key components to keeping honey bees alive throughout the winter months.

This class will cover:

  • Understanding how bees prepare for winter

  • Knowing when to feed

  • Assessing your hive for winter (Weight, Bees, Mites)

  • Choosing a Mite Treatment(s)

  • Considering Hive Body Treatments

  • Controlling moisture

Class cost is $45, and class is limited to eight people to ensure adequate spacing for each student, as well as one-on-one attention. This class will most likely fill up. If you are not able to make this date, please let us know, and we will find a future date that works for you.

Reservations will be set once payment for the class is received.
